Longtime IVC colleague and friend Kirk C. Gorrie passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. Kirk is survived by his wife Margaret Gorrie, son Brian Gorrie (age 22 and an IVC graduate now studying in England), daughter Michele Gorrie (a 17-year-old senior at Northwood), mother Trula Gorrie, and father Clayton Gorrie.
Kirk's mother Trula and the Gorrie family express their gratitude to all of Kirk's colleagues in the IVC English Department (where he taught from 2002-2012), and throughout the college, and recall how much Kirk loved teaching at IVC.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Kirk C. Gorrie IVC Memorial Scholarship.
Please help honor Kirk—his work with the IVC English Department and his significant impact on the students he taught at IVC—by contributing to the Kirk C. Gorrie Memorial Scholarship, which will be overseen and awarded by the English Department.
Checks may be sent to the IVC Foundation, 5500 Irvine Center Drive, A120, Irvine, CA 92618. For questions about donating to the Kirk Gorrie Memorial Scholarship or to Irvine Valley College call the IVC Foundation at 949-451-5290.
